My Smoking/nonsmoking journal update #3

Published by jameslockwood at 1:00 am under Kitchen rants, Uncategorized Edit This

Well this week I don’t feel it necessary to go day by day like I did last week. Nothing really changed, accept for the fact I am beginning to find it easier to go without a cigarette in some of my usual smoking times. For example, before I started this project, my first smoke of the day was on my walk to work in the morning. Now I have eliminated that cigarette from my routine. I do take a break sooner after getting to work, but only if I have the time. I also no longer smoke on my walk home, I wait until I reach my house to partake in my first “after work smoke”. These two minor changes may not seem like much, but remember too be successful you have to break the habits you have created around the addiction.  I have found that it is much easier to not smoke when I have made these small changes in my routine.

I am still smoking less than a half a pack a day, and most days I only smoke 5 or 6. There have been a few days this week I smoked 8 cigarettes, but only a few. It’s to the point where they don’t taste good anymore, however I don’t want to push my luck just yet and try to quit all together. I know that day will come soon, so I would rather wait and let it happen more naturally.

I can’t chew on straws, or toothpicks, I hate it! And hard candy is beginning to make me sick as well.

Every day I get closer to my final goal… and I don’t have to feel bad for cheating!

Until next week,

James
