Garlic, Garlic everywhere… and not enough mints!
Gilroy, California is the proud home of one of the largest Garlic festivals in the U.S. today. It is always the last full weekend in July and draws a Huge crowd. If you have ever driven through the town of Gilroy you will know why they have this festival. It reeks of fresh garlic! Even for a Garlic lover like myself this is overwhelming! I was asleep in a car on the highway going up to San Fransisco from L.A. when we passed through Gilroy, and the smell woke me up! If you have a fear of Vampires this is the town for you! If you allergic however I am afraid that even driving through might just cause a minor reaction. I haven’t been to the festival personally yet, but I have several friends who have gone and they still stink when they get back. I do want to experience it for myself someday, and seeing how close it is I know I will soon. I love Garlic and find it to be a great, healthy ingredient. I will explore it more in future posts!
