Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

This is a creditable text! We are all different, with different views. Different flavors (If you will). We need to expand not only our own horizons, but allow others in our lives to to the same! And be able(or willing) to see the beauty in these differences.

This is an important point, Both Personally as well as in the Culinary world ! A beet taste’s the same no matter if it is in a salad or in a soup! If you don’t like that flavor you most likely wont order it when it is on the menu. However, if you are exposed to them in a dessert, or in some other way(in food) that you are not as well versed on. You just might like it. Flavor is subjective. We have preconceived notions that are hard to overcome. We have to be open to new Ideas. Therefor not afraid to try new things. That is the only way we expand who we are, and are able to become “more than ourselves”.

Flavor does touch all the senses, therefor should be held in the highest esteem as far as this transformation is concerned. Salt is one fifth of this equation and needs to be given Its due. Without It, we would, as I have stated before be living in a very bland world. One without True color. The color would be present, but never with Its “True Intensity”.

This passage speaks of Grace. If you tell me you don’t like something, I will do everything in my power to convince you otherwise. Not because I am an asshole, but because, I believe that most food dislikes are based on a lack of knowledge, not a true distaste for the ingredient. I do however need to approach this gingerly(with grace). I listen to why you don’t like the ingredient, is it the mouth feel? Smell? Or texture? These are the three main reasons we don’t like a specific ingredient. I will then work on implementing that ingredient into a dish that will accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative you have mentioned. This process may take me some time, but I will find a way for you to enjoy it. I take it as a challenge to see if I can get you to see it from a different angle. Many of my friends will only eat certain things if I fix them. Not because I am some “Food Guru” but because I deal with th product with the respect it deserves, as well as their personal likes and dislikes. I cook with Grace(seasoned with salt).
